Advice from noted professionals

Kim Wayans (author, actress, director & 2011 SITA Guest Panelist)

1) Be proactive. Don't sit around waiting for your agent to call. Create your own opportunities. These days with YouTube, there's no excuse for not getting out there with your talent.

2) Don't try to imitate other actors you may admire. Be an original. You can be an okay version of someone else, or a magnificent version of yourself. The choice is yours. Always bring you and your heart into those casting offices because that is what will get you the gig.

3) Learn as much as you can about all aspects of the business -- producing, directing, writing. This way when one thing is not happening, you can do something else in the same business. Everything you learn will make you a more complete package. Be a triple threat!

4) Study, study, study. Take classes as much as you can. Acting, dancing, voice. Keep working on your craft so when opportunity knocks you will, without a doubt, be ready for it.

Have fun with the seminar, Dara. Thanks for getting the Amy books to give out. I appreciate the love. Will be thinking about you and sending positive vibrations for a GREAT seminar!
Peace & Love,
Kim
